TimeTrap Escape Rooms Reading

FAQ

Escape rooms are a fast growing form of entertainment. At the beginning of 2012, the UK had yet to see its first game and there are now over four hundred venues across the country! The concept comes from an online gaming fashion brought into the real world. A game sees a team of players enter into a themed room after being set a challenge that they have only their minds to solve. The environment holds the key to their escape, concealing clues and puzzles that they must hunt to find and solve. Successful, and they’ll escape the room triumphant, having conquered the quest. But its not as easy as it seems…

Our games can accommodate anywhere from 2 – 8 people. Usually the more people in your party, the better chance you have of completing your mission and escaping (although it can also depend on the calibre of your team-mates so choose wisely!)

We have no strict age-limit for those playing as part of a family group but recommend players are at least 8 years old in order to fully enjoy the experience. We are not suitable for children’s birthday parties and a 2:1 child/adult ratio is advised for those under the age of 14. We also ask that those under 16 be accompanied by a responsible adult.

No – when you book a time slot the entire room will be for you and your selected team.

Games cost between £24 – £32pp depending on how many players you have in your team. You can find a full run down of our prices at the bottom of ‘Our Games’ page.

Arrive for the time you have booked for. As escape games are a live event, we ask that you arrive on time so that we don’t run behind. If you are more than 15 minutes late then your hour time slot may be cut shorter.

You have 60 minutes to complete your quest and rewrite history. Add to this your briefing and debrief, along with a team photo after your game and you should expect to be with us for around an hour and a half.

Sorry, once you have booked we cannot issue a refund due to the live nature of the experience. However, please contact us in exceptional circumstances and we may be able to reschedule your game – the best way is by email at team@timetrapescaperooms.com

We currently have four rooms across three themes, with a capacity of 24 people within the same one hour session. Pudding Lane (2-6), Curiouser & Curiouser (4-8) and our head-to-head versus room, Station X which can accommodate two teams of 2-5.

If you would like to book more than one room at the same time, we are able to adjust the start times slightly, so get in touch if you would like to do this.

Yes. We usually stagger our start times to help with logistics. However, if you would like to book more than one room that have different start times and would like to arrive together, we ask that you arrive at the mid-point of your bookings. For example, if you have booked one experience at 14:50 and another at 15:10, we ask that you arrive all together at 15:00, the mid-point of these two bookings.

Yes. If you have someone in your team who is unsure whether they will be able to make it or not, you can book and pay for the confirmed number now and add on this additional person(s) at a later date or on the day. Do let us know before arrival if you plan to bring along an extra person so that we can make the necessary arrangements. You will have to book for the minimum the room can hold and will only be able to add additional players up to the maximum capacity of the room.

We are located on the first, second and third floors of a listed building with no lift/elevator and so wheelchair users may have difficulties accessing our venue. We have, in the past, accommodated people with mobility issues who use a wheelchair to get around for the most part but can stand/walk for a short period. We deliberately have seats in all of our rooms so that there is somewhere to sit for people who have difficulty with standing for long periods.

If you have a sight or hearing impairment, please get in touch with us. There are often ways that we can tailor our experiences to suit your accessibility requirements.

We find that all of our experiences are suitable for those expecting as they aren’t overly physical, with no crawl spaces or similar. We are on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd floors so, as long as you are able to manage stairs comfortably, you should be absolutely fine. There are also seats in all of our experiences should you wish to sit down.

Being located in Reading town centre we don’t have our own dedicated parking. We usually recommend The Oracle car park as the best place to park as it is easy to locate, a 5-10 minute walk away and is central to other amenities. The Station car park is also a similar 5 minute walk away.

Any comfortable clothes are fine! We don’t recommend wearing your best ball gown or your highest heels, but there are no dress code policies. You may get more brownie points if you dress up to match the time period you’re heading back to though!
